A new edition of EARTH CLOCK (Kobe Airport 2006).
In October 2008, two clock towers were set in one of the atriums of Aeon Lake Town in Koshigaya. (Aeon Lake Town is Japan’s largest shopping center).
The clock on the left expresses time in hours and minutes. The one on the right reflects natural time: Sun’s shadow as it appears in real time on a slowly rotating three-dimensional rendition of Earth.
For more on the concept and background of the production of EARTH CLOCK, please see design journalist Keiichiro Fujisaki’s ‘EARTH CLOCK Report 1: Natural time, artificial time’.
