Visits to LW

with YURAS Inc.(2009)

‘Visits’ is a live system that visualizes accesses to our site, tracing the most recent 500 visits on a map of the world.
> open Visits

Are other people visiting the same site?
If so, when and from where are they accessing?
Such curiosity inspired us to create a mechanism that would make the answers to those questions visible.

The how and why:
In the winter of 2008, the ASP company YURAS consulted us through Masato Fuse (Noosphere Design Rays) about making a site-installation that would visualize live data on their website. Exchanging ideas with Shunichiro Kuriyama (KARHU), Yoshiaki Nishimura (LW) developed the plan. Drawing on the talents of Suguru Yamaguchi (Manual of Errors) and designer Senya Nemoto, we moved from plan to production, and in April 2009 launched the YURAS version, followed by the LW version in June.

Producer: NOOSPHERE DESIGN RAYS (Masato Fuse, Yoshifumi Yamai)
Incubator: YURAS (Kazuhisa Iura)
Planner and director: Yoshiaki Nishimura (Living World)
System engineer: Syunichiro Kuriyama (KARHU)
Sound designer: Suguru Yamaguchi (Manual of Errors)
Motion designer: Senya Nemoto
